How many Rotto Solos have you done?
Five
What was your toughest race ever and why?
Ironman Canada – cos i was descending their mountains in a freak hail storm!
What do you think about when you are finding training or a race really tough?
The “good part” is gonna be next
What do you reward yourself with after a big training session or race?
Food, hot bath then sleep.
What are you looking forward to most about the Channel swim?
Hitching a ride with a dolphin for a couple of k’s
What are you most worried about in Channel swim?
My mum on the support boat navigating water traffic.
What or who has inspired you to do this swim?
Maybe that quad amputee who swam it last year!
How many kms will you rack up in a week min-max?
Hopefully no more than 30-50k.
What do you think about in these long swims?
Any fish under here?? Big or small .. jus something to watch
Or maybe the 33,600 odd strokes it should take me?
Tell us something about your preparations for the English Channel that you would not normally do for any other sporting event.
Where do you start? It’s quite opposite to the typical get fit training image – You have to eat lots, get fat, get cold, single sport, train in dirty water? Not the typical incentives I would look forward to in training!!
What do you like to eat during these long swims?I’d usually stick to gels and water then crave the coke kick in last hour or so … But in cold water I’m thinking something warm … maybe porridge? Warm coke?
Will you be getting a tattoo after this swim to symbolise what you have achieved?
Ye I thought I’d go for the speedo bathers and goggle tatt that is complementary!
